Possible Rendezvous Location Change

Post by loubennett »

I just heard yesterday that the restaurant (Mangos) at Herrington Harbour South will close permanently on Labor Day. This leaves us with only the deli across the street for a meal. Since one of our criteria for the rendezvous location is having a restaurant within walking distance, it has been suggested by one of our members that we consider moving the location to Herrington Harbour North where the Dockside Restaurant adjoins the marina. I have sent Herrington Harbour South an email inquiring if a switch could easily be made and hope to get a response soon.

Herrington Harbour North is in Deale at the north end of Herring Bay, so it's basically the same trip by boat. They have a pool, a West Marine store, grills, picnic tables, and are close to at least two restaurants. Dockside serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner on weekends and is right next door to the marina. Also, Happy Harbor Restaurant is less than a half mile away.

I'd like some quick feedback from all those planning to attend on whether or not we should make the change if it is available. I'm hoping that since the two marinas have common ownership that they can simply shift our reservations if we decide to do so. If they can't make it easy and there is strong support for making the change, I will try to set things up with Herrington Harbour North and we can individually cancel at South and make a new reservation at North.

Please let me know what you think.

I just received confirmation that Herrington Harbour North has room for us. So far I have four responses in favor of moving and no negatives. Please post your opinion if you haven't already done so. I will make a decision by Monday.

Also, if you are planning to attend the rendezvous and haven't already posted your intentions, please do it so I can get a count on boats. Also indicate how many people will be in your party.

Herrington North is fine.
Happy Harbor has pretty good live music at weekends, and several (smallish) guest slips for those who would rather float there.
Looking forward to meeting other Albineers.

There is also Skipper's Pier (food, bar and music etc) across the creek - easily dinkable.

Just the 2 of us.
