Max and everyone,
We are leaving a car at Treasure Cove for general use.
For the Saturday night pot luck we're bringing a big vegetable salad, a large Mexican corn and bean salad, and a huge pumpkin walnut cake, plus Jimmy Buffet. CDS and free beer (also MOJO mix!!).
Looking forward to seeing everyone. Hope all goes well with Kat.

Local Knowledge

Post by RobS »

Not sure how many have been all the way up the Peconic into Flanders and Riverhead before. All in all it is simple sailing. Only spot that can throw you off a bit is when you're first coming into Flanders off the Peconic and coming up on Red 4. Most of the locals, especially the smaller boats, will continue west from 4 straight to 8 and not bother turning to the north to follow Green 5 and 7. I'm not one to "cut corners"... the pink line is the "proper" route ...

Looks like it will be a bit warm this weekend. It's comparable to being at the Mystic Seaport - far up river and not too much breeze or shade..but at least we have this pool 8)

Any craft beer lovers will want to walk over to the Crooked Ladder Brewery in town. Friday night they are open until 8:00. I recommend the Gypsy Red and 70 West IPA...see you there! :D

Safe travels.

John is that the 66 Goat with a 389 6 pack and a 411 rear? Can't wait to go to the Craft brewery for a growler. Rob. great point about the buoys. When I kept my Luhrs at Treasure Cove, I used to make that cut. However, I am following a season navigator on this trip. I am picking up 2 Key Lime pies for Saturday night/afternoon.

I received banners and a couple of coolers from John Collins today. I spoke to Treasure Cove and we should be all set with tables and chairs.

See ya guys on Friday.

Seahorse is having a minor but difficult to diagnose electrical problem. Hopefully just batteries and/or alternator and not wiring. The evaluation is a process of elimination and elimination. Looks like we may be delayed leaving on Saturday morning on the next high tide but certainly in time for the Pot Luck. Will continue to keep you posted. Thank you for the chart guide. We have never been up into that area and certainly appreciate the information.

Max & Gruop,
Seahorse will not be making the rendezvous. Sorry we will miss the Margarita Party - we will be eating Mijito Lime chicken for the next week. Hope to catch up with you sometime once we get the kinks worked out!!! Max thank you for all the planning. Let me know where to send the check for the bag.

! would like to thank the following boats that were able to attend our NE Rendezvous at Treasure Cove Marina.
1. Southern Cross
2. Doghouse
3. Tenacious
4. Joint Venture
5. Wine Down & Jack
6. Ancora
7. Sonny IV & Doug

The weather was hot and windy both Friday and Saturday. Those yachts coming from the East and North had a challenging time through the Peconics on Friday afternoon.

Next years reunion has been handed over to Wine Down (Annette & Dave) for the second weekend in July, 2017. It is planned to be held in New London, either at the submarine pens or a marina. Perhaps we could get Electric Boat works to convert our diesels to nuclear power plants.

Shady Lady, Midnight Rambler, Emerald C's and Seahorse were unable to make the rendezvous due to operating issues. If you would send me your name and address via private e-mail, we can make arrangements to have your bag delivered.

Thanks for your support and happy boating.

Hi Max!

A big thank you to you guys for hosting! Other than the snotty ride over  it was a wonderful time!

Sonny's still in her slip, having just sent Wine Down and Tenacious on their way, and I'll be departing shortly.

Already looking forward to next year!

All the best!

Had a great time at Treasure Cove with all the Albin clan that attended. As Max said we are looking at having the 2017 rendezvous at Crocker's Boatyard in New London during Sail Fest. (second weekend in July) This is a great weekend in town with street vendors, good restaurants and bars. Everything is accessible via 2 legs. The casinos are a short taxi ride for those who want to donate to the indians wealth. Fireworks are Saturday night on the Thames right across from the boatyard. Boatyard is sheltered with access through pivoting train bridge. Crocker's is just up the Thames a short way across from General Dynamics, Electric Boat. If you want to take a ride up the Thames to Norwich it is a short trip with restaurant and marina. Rob S. is going this week so he can report on this for all.

Just East of the Thames is Bluff Point where you can anchor and swim to beach or dinghy in. A great place just to hang out. At Crocker's there is a pool, showers, laundry, marine store, ice and mechanics if needed. I will bring my weber gas grill for all to use and there are picnic tables and space for us to to assemble in the parking lot by our dock.

We want to thank Max and Margaret for hosting this year and thanks again for the great personalized bags. Thank your daughter for us for the great work.

I will be going to Crocker's today to see what they will do for us. I will tell them that about 10 boats will be coming for now.

Thank you to Max and Margaret for organizing a Great Reunion, it was well worth the long, wet ride to meet new friends.
A special Thanks to Matt and Janet, Max and Margaret for the escort upon exiting the shallow waters of the Peconic.

Great Food and Spirits......already looking forward to next year.

I'm sorry we didn't get to say goodbyes to John and Marcia, you early birds!!
Same to Doug, but he's like the teenager who sleeps till noon anyway!!

A heads up to all, we are now actively searching for a 31 Albin if anyone knows of one for sale or swap for our 28

Till we meet again, stay safe and be well! Gene & Susan

Yes, a big thanks to Max and Margaret for coordinating and for the bags. I'm still trying to get that silly Albin logo off! And thanks to Dave and Annette for taking the torch for 2017. Tenacious and crew may have a conflict that sailfest weekend but we'll attend if we can.

And another big thanks to Doug for brazing his way over and always keeping things interesting and fun! When my cellphone lit up with Doug calling at 9:00 Friday night my first thought was oh well he's calling to say he's hunkered down in Essex and he'll see us in the morning...NOPE.... he was calling because he was idling outside the marina in pitch blackness with no hope in finding his slip!

Left Treasure Cove Monday with Wine Down and we both grabbed moorings in Sag Harbor and had a nice afternoon together. Thanks Dave and Annette for the dinghy service and saving me from launching mine for the 1 night.

Tuesday Tenacious headed to a mooring in Newport where we stayed until Saturday. We're now back at Treasure Cove for a few nights and we leave Thursday for American Wharf as my girls have concert tickets at Mohegan Sun. From there we'll head back to Long Island and anchor out a few days before returning to our Moriches homeport which will be welcomed (kind of) after 18 days away.

We kept in touch with Wine Down during their nice post-rendezvous extended multi port Long Island cruise. Gene & Susan on Southern Cross had an extended float plan after the rendezvous as well...would enjoy hearing the details of same.

Hope the boats that could not attend for mechanical reasons are back, or getting back, in business, you were all missed.
