Doug and Kat,

Winedown is in as we really love any excuse to visit Essex. As you know, mid May we are in Waterford so if you guys need a hand with anything let us know. Look forward to a great 2019 boating season with all of our friends and family.

Looking forward to it. Essex will be different in one aspect this time though...in prior years we always had the north floater in the cove pretty much dedicated to us. Now that dock is for residents, not transients. Essex does have a history of raining on us but now we have Doug’s house so all is good!

And yet there's this photo of "A Basin" from the EIM website. Hmmm.

No grumblings Kevin! We’re a go. See the other thread for details. And book the Gris soon, it gets busy!

"drinking rum before 10AM makes you a Pirate, not an Alcoholic"

and it makes the trip in a cage somewhat bearable.

We spent six weeks in BC last year with the Desert Albins. We could drive the whole thing in a couple days. Except where there are no roads.

I did see the other thread Doug and the grumblings are rattling at my homestead as we work through the decision of a road trip and land based weekend. With weekend only time constraints we're not doing the 180 plus nautical mile trip each way by boat which we did do to the first SX Rendezvous. Final decision will be made by March 1. Gris is currently fully vacant.

I've done a few by road trip due to tight schedule constraints, it's different but good. Hope you make it and for sure you will have "unrestricted access" to TENACIOUS. And when you get withdrawals feel free to sit at the helm and go "vroooom, vrooooom"!

I can understand that! If I had a dock to lend I'd tell you to make it a multi-week trip (Leave boat and drive back and forth - we thought about doing that with a trip to Maine.)

Either way we'd love to have you!

who is going from the south shore or north shore of long island? I would like to take the trip with someone figure it will make it more fun and could start to get to know my fellow albin owners. I have never been through the lock but am excited for a new experience. I understand you have to tether to the wall while they flush water in or out. Max's wife Margret was explaining to me that one year he had to toss a guy a knife to cut himself of a cleet before his boat was hanging from it. If anyone has tips i would gladly take them if not i am sure the lock operator will assist and then we have good old you tube videos..
