Crossing & Fishing Lake Okeechobee & Cayo Costa - A27FC

Post by Bearkeley »

Posted some pictures on the Albin Facebook Page but thought we’d share some pictures of our recent trip across Lake O from East to West and at our current anchorage in Pelican Bay, by Cayo Costa State Park.

We sold our home on the Chesapeake Bay and took Mary Jo, our 27FC down the ICW for the second time. We usually travel internationally during the winter, but for now, we are enjoying having our solar power, three season enclosure and our larger holding tank as we complete our first straight week at anchor....and it looks like we can be here at Cayo Costa for another week before needing more water or a pump out! 😀

Some people think they need a 40 or 50 foot motor yacht in order to enjoy extended time in the water. But for us, our little 27 has everything we need and we are perfectly happy here. The important thing is to go explore and enjoy your boat. It’s been great fishing, great anchorages and even meeting a few Albiners on the way!

We just spent a few nights there. Was the you anchored by doggy doo beach? No, that isn’t the real name but we have been thinking of making a sign to put there after watching the dingy traffic:)

The enclosure looks like a nice addition for cruising. We saw a 28 come in last night and were recalling ours, the changes we were making for extended cruising, and that we would have traveled down on the 28 had it not been for circumstance. No, a larger boat isn’t needed to enjoy time on the water.

Didn’t know there was a Facebook page, not that we subscribe anyway, so good to see the post here.

Safe travels

Hi, yes, it’s been fun watching the dogs! Still here for a few more days before needing a pump out. Sorry we missed you.
