Old man sews canvas, dinghy cover for Gig Harbor Nisqually revisited.

Post by DesertAlbin736 »

Did a post on this a while back, but just recently downloaded some additional photos from the Admiral's phone. Turns out we never used the dinghy or the cover on our recent East Coast trip as the dinghy stayed strapped down on the back of the truck since it wasn't really needed for the Erie Canal & we ended our trip much earlier than planned & never made it to NYC or the Chesapeake. Turns out "DA'ing" that far in muggy east coast last summer heat & humidity is more taxing than we care to repeat. The cover will get used in the future, perhaps as early as this fall when we go back out on our home lake once the weather cools off in late October.

Looks great!

Your dining room looks like a sail maker's loft. I'm envious of all the table space

Always astonished by the quality of your work. Canvas looks great and the design meets all needs.

Thank Sailrite's step by step instructional videos. I am by no means a professional at sewing canvas or sailmaking. Besides an online source of machines, materials, & supplies Sailrite has an extensive online library of easy to follow videos on how to design, cut, & sew just about any canvas or upholstery project imaginable, marine or otherwise.

Nice pictures! Yes Sailrite vids are like Bob Ross for canvas. Nothing wrong with weather.. but one need A/C in summer. The following weeks were terrible in the canals. The people we met the nighr after we parted in Lyons were stuck for nearly two weeks in Little Falls on the eastern canal due to flooding.

Tribologist,

Yesterday was the first day since we got home in August that the temperature failed to reach a high of 100 degrees or above. Dry heat of course. Virtually no rain since either. Topped out at 98 yesterday. But our home has central A/C and the pool is still warm enough to swim & will be for a few more weeks. The best thing about the trip was I lost about 10 lbs & dropped one waist size. Helps not to have access to a refrigerator & snacks. I wonder how this guy we saw in Fairport made out? At least with a trailerable one can haul out & move on & not be stuck.
