Cleaning Teak Decks (and all other teak)

Post by Despacio »

Sudsy ammonia from the 99 cent store. Wet decks, apply the sudsy ammonia, lightly scrub, rinse.

Works better than the expensive, hazardous stuff that costs money at West Marine. Most of my teak is raw and clean. Cap rails, hand rails and windows are varnished and covered.

Refrain from using a brush on teak decks. It wears the soft fibers away.
Bleach water with no scrubbing cleans teak decks. Rinse with salt water if possble. The salt helps keep the teak expanded and sealed.

I scrub lightly, but since I want to remove the decks, maybe I should scrub harder.
