Doug,
I was looking at your website. Is this the bridge where the road has an opening "cut" in it for sailboat masts?

Yup, Somerset Bridge. We claim it is the smallest drawbridge in the world. The opening is only about 15", wide enough for an unstayed mast.

Tricky bridge to get under with almost anything. The approach channel on one side has a dogleg in it so you have to sort of slide into your lineup like an aircraft making a turn on final appraoch to land. The water level width is only about 15'. I've taken my 32 through a few times ( no tower mounted). CLOSE.

I've been through it hundreds of times. Never touched. Been close a few times. Once you are under the bridge you DON'T look back. The first few times doing it you feel the need to check your pants on the other side. The secret is to pick your course & maintain a decent steerage speed.

The most maddening situations are the rental boats who push in front when the light turns green then barely creep though oversteering one way then the next because they have no speed.
