Schaeffer's Reopens

Post by jcollins »

If you cruise the upper Chesapeake / C&D Canal like we do, Schaeffer's Canal House in Chesapeake City was always good destination. With the swift current (6+ knots) docking for fuel was always a challenge. Schaeffer's closed a few years ago but the new owners say it should re-open around Labor day. The new owners have rebuilt the docks as well as the facility buildings.

Interesting. We were going to stay there on our inaugural cruise with Sonny III when we picked her up at Kent Island. Couldn't figure out why they weren't answering the phone until we motored by and it was clearly shutdown.

We may do an OBX trip next year, if we go down "inside" we'll have to think about trying them again.
