Albin Stratus construction

Post by broadbay »

Hi from Outer Hebrides
Considering buying an Albin Stratus.
Understand keel is lead - can anyone advise if it is encapsulated or if there are keel bolts?
If bolted - any known issues please?
thanks in advance.

I don't know for sure, but my guess is it is bolted on. The literature states things like "with standard keel" and "attachment: keel without bulb." Also, if you google images of the Albin Stratus, the keel looks pretty thin. In my personal experience, that also indicates it being bolted on. Since it was a one design racer, that makes sense. It's cheaper, easier and less weight to bolt on a keel than do to a full lay-up. Sorry you haven't received a definitive answer. This forum is mostly for Albin power boats.
