A25 Original Horn Type and Location

Wondering about adding a horn back to DuNord. Any help is appreciated.

Did they even have a horn when new? Mine came with a can horn. Our 2 day takeover/delivery trip had morning fog. Fortunately we had the hatch over the helm for sticking the horn out. One of the first things I did was add an electric horn. Oh now I remember, it did have an electric horn that sounded like a sick cow when it did work. Of course the wiring needed fixing.

The horn world is your oyster. What would you like to do?

Trumpet would be fun, placement is the dilemma.

I added an electric horn to my A25. I went the "stealth" route.

I mounted an Origo compact horn (the round kind that looks like a snail shell) to a 1/4" disc of seafoam color King Starboard.

Why a disc shape? Because I mounted it inside the stainless starboard cabin-top vent dome. That's the vent that runs to the head.

I used the vent duct to run my wiring through and some teak trim to hide it once it exited the duct in the head. Snaking the wire through gives me the idea that the duct is a better conduit for wire than it is a duct for ventilation. It's not as "wide open" as I would have thought.

The mount looks nothing more than a 1/4" spacer for the stainless vent dome. It also covers the duct so the horn sound doesn't travel to the head. Horns and heads don't mix, unless you want to scare the s*** out of someone. Literally.

I know... kinda crazy, but no new holes drilled in the boat. And if I really want the vent back, it is easily removable and relocate-able. But I might need to drill holes then.
