That is an inverter, add an automatic transfer switch:

And you have it, 110 when it's available, and 12 when it isn't.

You may have misread my post, there is no need for a transfer switch. That model does the transfer automatically.

Hi;
I should have added the model "PS" to come up with the unit you referred to. Thanks for posting the photo, made it easier to find.

That looks to be what I want, except, it's $500, and the True Power 400 inverter is $94, and a transfer switch is $38, so I might do it the hard way.

Thanks

Yes, I went back and found it at Defender, more expensive than I remembered. I went with that unit since I use it to power HDTV's and possibly a small Mac computer and wanted the clean power waveform.

I do see that Pro Mariner makes a plug and play "transfer switch" that might be an option for you.

I was looking forward to your report of the custom fridge, but yes, 7 weeks of no progress would have me questioning that path as well!

Good luck with your project.

Right now my refrigerator outlet is not on the inverter circuit because the old one ran on 12 volts away from the dock. I decided I'd just change that and run it off my main inverter to keep it simple.

The best I can find, the old Norcold used 5.5 amps @ 110, the new Frigidaire, 1.0-1.4, Dometic Cool Mate 3.3.

Figured I would post these photos here vs. starting another topic. I replaced my Norcold DE 704 with a Vitrifrigo C115i. It fits the opening of the DE 704 perfectly except the height is about 4" less. You can get DC only or AC/DC. I saved $100 by going with DC only which is all I used before. We really like the interior light. Here are the specs if interested: http://www.vfamerica.com/eng/catalog.as ... 40&n=ocean.
