Hi guys. I've got the "blackout dates" all figured out and so now want to poll the gang on possible rendezvous dates. I'm starting with late June and running to the 3rd weekend in August. Any earlier and we have conflicts with schools (June may not be doable at all - if you have a conflict there please let me know) and by late August the days are noticeable shorter.

So, assuming I'm doing this correctly, please select workable dates above. Please select any and all dates (up to 4) that you feel confident you can make it. Dates are for the Friday - Sunday. Once preferred dates are identified we'll settle on location.

The poll is open until Friday the 27th, but if there good early turnout I may settle on a date sooner than that so I can talk to the marinas about availability.

July 25th is bad for me. Our club has the big race of the year and I'm on the committee.

That's our club clambake weekend this year - and since the admiral won't miss it it's one of the "blackout" dates. The other being July 4th weekend.

Also - for those on LIS who might want to do something interesting, July 25 is the weekend of St. Vincent's "Swim across the sound". If you volunteer with your boat they take very nice care of you. It's a fun, worthwhile event.

We are new to AOG..where will the NE Rendevous be held or is that determined by date decided on

I like the idea of Essex Island Marina. Not been there for some time.
Prefer August 7-9 but either of the July dates also could work.
We are planning on going (probably driving) to the MTOA rendezvous at Mystic.

Our preferred dates are July 31 - August 2 . Neither August dates work as we will be in Nantucket.

Doug, wouldn't selecting a marina first and then back into the date. In three weeks we will be in May and to get 20 or so boats in the same state maybe an issue. What about your place for the rendezvous. We could all help out at the clam bake, enjoy free beverages and watch the Admiral give orders.

While that could be entertaining we are not a marina but an island. So, no docks, power, water, etc...

That said I'd be up for hosting a bit of a less formal gathering there sometime this summer.

The issue with Marina first is that we end up with conflicts on the date with some of the regulars (myself included)

I'll have a date posted tomorrow and we'll ramp it up and get this all set up. New job has had me on the road to Richmond Virginia every week and not a lot of free time.

We'll be watching for your post on the date. "La Dolce Vita" will be in the vicinity of Weekapaug, RI from at least June 6 thru June 13, possibly a little longer. Extending past 6/13 is TBD, but one way or another after Rhode Island we'll be packing up to trailer down to NJ and DE bound for Barnegat Bay and the Chesapeake respectively. If the NE rendezvous is in that time frame we'd love to drop by & say hi.

Summer is heating up here in Arizona. We just got back from a 21 boat "sunflower" circular raftup of sailboats on Lake Pleasant near Phoenix. Got up to 96 degrees on Saturday and 93 on Sunday. Very difficult to cool the cabin off to 90 or less, except in the morning when overnight lows were around 70.

We darn near lost our 22 lb Bruce anchor with 26 ft of chain and 250 ft of rode to a snag on an underwater tree. A new dam built in the 1990s raised the lake level and submerged many existing trees and shrubs, so there's still a risk of snagging anchors on submerged mesquite trees and creosote shrubs.

Yo Doug, could I get a heads up on what month and what state you are planning for the NE rendezvous?

We're away Aug 7th - 16th. We're hoping for other dates but if not, see you all next year. - Enigma

Is there going to be a rendezvous this year, being 2015, or did I miss the info.

The date for this year's NE Rendezvous is August 7-9th.

We are looking into locations. Block Island is on the short list, as is Essex Island. Suggestions are welcome.

Essex Island should roll out the red carpet. They are doing a lot to build up business since Brewer bought it.

Unfortunately the Joint Venture Crew will be in Nantucket on those dates.
It's too bad in that we have missed only one previous Rendezvous.

We look forward to earlier 2016 arrangements.
